Furniture reupholstery

reupholstery in Liskeard

This project was something a little different, re-covering a 1960's corner seat and giving it a new lease of life.

This seat has been in the family for many years but was showing its age with some splits in the fabric and the varnish a bit chipped in places.

We measured it up and the customer ordered some new fabric online. Once this was delivered, we returned and took the whole unit apart and removed the old covers. We then recovered all the upholstered areas with the new fabric.

All of the wooden parts were sanded down in the customers garage and given a new coat of polyurethane varnish which was left over from another job. Once this was dry, it took about an hour and a half to rebuild the whole corner-seat which now looks good again. The seat was made in Czechoslovakia out of Beech-veneered ply.

It's always nice to preserve and re-use things and this job was an example of how it can work out well.
