Fitting laminate flooring

New laminate flooring

This job was to fit laminate flooring in a bedroom in a character cottage in Liskeard.

We carefully removed the skirting boards and undercut the architraves and door frames. We then fixed a small area of the floor where previously a piece had been cut out and was slightly lower as it is so important when laying laminate that the sub-floor is even.

The customers had chosen a very nice modern laminate from Liskeard Carpets and Flooring and we fitted this and it really matched the colour scheme well. We then fitted the trims to the doorways and re-fitted the original skirting boards.

Some people worry that removing skirting boards to fit laminate flooring will cause a lot of damage. However, this job shows that if they have only been glued on then generally they can be removed and refitted with the minimum of damage and the additional effort is rewarded with a better quality finish than is achieved by using scotia trim or quadrant.

The customers were very happy with the work.
